Putting the focus on veteran care
The Veterans Home Care (VHC) program is a vital service designed to support people so they can remain living in their own home independently – while also addressing issues to improve each person’s psychological, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Mateship. Respect. Integrity. They’re the qualities which define the men and women who have willingly stepped up to serve our country. They are also the qualities which drive us at Aspire4Life to ensure our veterans receive the support and care they deserve.
Since being appointed as an official Department of Veteran Affairs (DVA) Assessment Agency in April 2019, Aspire4Life has been proudly connecting with and supporting our veterans, war widows and war widowers.
The Veterans Home Care (VHC) program is a vital service designed to support people so they can remain living in their own home independently – while also addressing issues to improve each person’s psychological, emotional and physical wellbeing.
Aspire4Life has hit the ground running, working in partnership with DVA to operate as a Veteran Home Care Assessment Agency in our contracted regions – including South Eastern Sydney, New England, Central Sydney, Macquarie, South West Sydney, Western Sydney and Northern Sydney.
“Since commencing the contract in April our assessors have been incredibly busy, with 6000 clients residing within our seven assessment regions,” said Sarah Beaumont, DVA Team Leader at Aspire4Life. “it’s a very exciting time and we are passionate about this new opportunity to assist the veterans within our community – while also diversifying Aspire4Life’s services in the health and aged care industry.”
Access to an extensive network of trained staff, Aspire4Life was able to deploy resources quickly and efficiently to commence assessments as soon as the VHC tender was confirmed. Conducting virtual phone assessments, our compassionate staff actively listen to each person’s story, before recommending support services designed to maintain their independence and quality of life.
Our aim is to provide a well-managed and seamless service to ensure the veterans in our community receive the support they require in a timely manner. An individual’s needs are assessed, an approval for a Care Plan when appropriate is created and a referral sent to contracted VHC service providers to implement services for the Veteran.
Aspire4Life assessors can recommend services include Domestic Assistance, Personal Care, Safety-related Home and Garden Maintenance and Respite Care. From changing a tap washer to help with showering, vacuuming the floors, remaking the bed and other daily tasks which have become difficult for the Veterans. While in-home respite care services provide temporary relief for carers, allowing them to have a break and to renew their energy levels.
Aspire4Life is honoured to play a role in assisting the individuals and the families of those who have sacrificed their time, lives and often their health to keep Australia safe. Our successful launch into this area of support, also further expands the professional services Aspire4Life can offer organisations, and individuals, all under the one umbrella.
But most importantly, we can help provide better outcomes for veterans facing difficulties at home. To arrange an assessment call a VHC Assessment Agency on 1300 550 450.
