Aspire4Life Awarded New DVA Contracts
The team, led by Michelle Canning, provides over-the-phone home support assessments for veterans who require help with anything from domestic chores to respite care.Michelle says after two years delivering DVA assessments across New South Wales, winning the new contracts was testament to the quality of service Aspire4Life provides.
“Being awarded South Australia and Northern Territory is a nod from the DVA, acknowledging the great work we are doing and verifying that we are a strong and reliable partner,” she says.
“Aspire4Life has an exceptional understanding of the challenges veterans may face and the support they may need, and I believe this has played a huge role in our contract expansion by the Department.
“This deep understanding comes from our dedication to training, ensuring our team is proficient in everything from cultural appropriateness to dealing with challenging behaviours.
“Our team focuses on ongoing development in both assessment practices and using empathy led processes to ensure we are up-to-date with the best ways to engage with veterans, including those with post trauma and mental health considerations.
“This coaching complements our assessment tools, as well as our sound understanding of our client base and of the guidelines that are determined by the Veteran Home Care department.
“We also stick to our value of “redefining your possible” and have created a team of vibrant, knowledgeable and motivated assessors who genuinely care about the veterans, and the value of independence and quality of life for the people we support.”
From its base on the Gold Coast, the Aspire4Life DVA team spent three months preparing for the expansion and recruiting new members who have settled into their supported roles under the mentorship of senior assessors.
This meticulous preparation has made the move into new regions seamless and Michelle says it’s a process they can readily replicate should the opportunity arise to expand further.
“Ultimately we’d love to provide DVA home assessments nationally as it’s a service we’ve been able to innovate and evolve over the past two years in partnership with the government and veterans alike,” says Michelle.
Aspire4Life also partners with government to deliver assessments for federally-funded Home Care Packages through My Aged Care.
“We have several team members who are qualified to provide assessments for both Veteran’s Home Care and My Aged Care, which in the future, will allow us to streamline the process for veterans who may be eligible for support by complementary funding schemes. We are hopeful that the Royal Commission will also allow for more efficiencies in the Aged Care Assessment experience for the communities we support to remain happy and healthy in their own homes.”, Michelle says.
