Community Visitors Scheme
Social connection and support are vital elements of overall health, which is why In Great Company is a free volunteer program designed to link people with a Home Care Package or on the waitlist for a Home Care Package with volunteer visitors.
Encouraging social interaction and support, friendships are forged to promote mental and physical wellbeing for people who might otherwise suffer loneliness or isolation.
In Great Company offers the Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) program in the community, and is available to people who meet the eligibility criteria. Visits under the program do not replace any of the services provided under a Home Care Package, but rather enhance the service.
The program connects seniors and volunteers, based on their shared interests and skills, for regular one-on-one help, in-home visits, social outings, group activities, virtual community sessions or social phone calls.
Activities might include:
- Time spent together in your home chatting over a cuppa or playing cards
- Help in and around the home, such as light gardening, small home maintenance tasks, or cooking together
- Outings to cafes, the movies, the local park or appointments
- Visiting friends or attending a social club
- Assistance with technology
- Regular social chats on the phone
The list goes on and the opportunities are endless. Get in touch with us and we can assist matching you with just the right volunteer.
The seniors who would benefit most from this program may:
- live at home alone
- have no immediate family or friends living nearby
- are isolated geographically
- experience a disability
The In Great Company Volunteer Program is available to any senior over the age of 65, who is either currently on the national waitlist for a Home Care Package or has a government-subsidised Home Care Package in place.
